The Amazon Search Ranking and Relevance team is responsible for helping customers find relevant products that meet their expectations in terms of price, quality, and convenience. Our goal is to make shopping easy and enable customers to shop with confidence.

We are currently seeking a Principal PMT to join our Product Management team and utilize machine learning (AI, ML) to enhance the Amazon Search experience. The mission of this role will be to ensure that customers perceive Search as a trusted friend that directly answers their questions, assists them in exploring Amazon's extensive selection, and empowers them to shop with confidence, knowing that they have made the right choice.

Key job responsibilities

As the Principal Product Manager - Tech for Search Ranking and Relevance, your role is to create and execute the vision and strategy for the Relevance team's new products. Your focus is on delivering excellent shopping experiences for customers by understanding their shopping intents and incorporating relevant features on the search page. The ideal candidate should have experience in a fast-paced environment and a strong bias for action.

You will collaborate with global teams to identify and prioritize needs, influence the organization, and create high-quality search experiences. Your expertise in search engines and recommender systems will be crucial in expanding beyond the current offerings. Success in this role requires a customer-centric approach, innovative thinking, and effective communication.

Working closely with a team, you will create scalable shopping experiences that contribute to a delightful shopping experience for Amazon customers. This is a technical role that may require a tech assessment.

Within the Search Relevance and Ranking team, our mission is to empower customers to shop effortlessly and confidently. We achieve this by providing relevant products and information through a well-organized interface. This is made possible by utilizing AI and ML models to gain deep insights into customer behaviors and preferences. By doing so, we ensure the delivery of the most relevant results that align with customer goals. Our access to a wealth of data enables us to create smarter and personalized experiences for both customers and selling partners using machine learning.

You will have full ownership, from strategy development to execution, performance assessment, and daily oversight of search relevance and ranking programs.

Basic Qualifications

  • Strong customer focus and a deep passion for enhancing the Amazon shopping experience.

  • Ability to dive deep into metrics and insights, and translate analysis into actionable plans.

  • Experience in delivering high-quality 3YP, PFRAQs, QBR, and BRDs.

  • Over 10 years of experience as a Technical Product Manager, with experience in software development, network development, IT, or related fields.

  • Motivated to work in a fast-paced, international business environment, and understand feature delivery and trade-offs in product development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in building and shipping B2C Machine Learning-based platforms, with knowledge in Machine Learning, Economics, Statistical modeling, and Causal Inference.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and build trust in a matrixed organization, resolve conflicts, and effectively escalate issues to make progress towards our mission.

  • Passion for writing and storytelling to build the overall strategy for improving our CX

  • Strategic approach to product development, with an emphasis on thinking big to solve customer problems.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $144,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
