Job Description

Purpose

The Senior Data Scientist will utilize various data sets to perform value added analytics identifying compliance trends and providing insights into emerging areas of risk supporting the Global Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) organization. The candidate will utilize predictive analytics, create dashboards, and reports to clearly communicate the results to relevant business stakeholders with the Global EHS and Business Technology Solutions (BTS) functions. In addition, the Senior Data Scientist will be able to develop an overall data management strategy vision and improve the overall EHS infrastructure by partnering with key stakeholders to identify and integrate additional data sets and improve related processes.

Responsibilities

Work closely within the Global EHS team and other cross-functional partners and internal stakeholders (including Finance, Operations, Commercial, R&D, and others) to ensure that analytics are appropriately deployed to support an integrated, risk-based enterprise-wide approach to data monitoring for relevant EHS, compliance, and sustainability data;

  • Develop and execute on analytically-driven data monitoring programs, designed to identify emerging compliance an injury/illness network risks incorporating machine learning, predictive analytics, and other advanced analytics techniques;

  • Partner with other functions across the to drive improvement of the EHS and sustainability programs while achieving operational agility;

  • Communicate the results of analytics activities (in written and verbal form) in a simple, user-friendly, and intuitive way -- while technical skills and experience are required, the ability to communicate / translate information in a non-technical manner is critical;

  • Support the remediation, design, and development of the EHS business systems data and analytics infrastructure to ensure that it is sufficiently flexible, sustainable, and scalable;

  • Support global initiatives that involve or impact EHS and sustainability analytics activities, including advising on new systems, policies, or procedures;

  • Support the direction on business data management (Governance) and closely collaborate with BTS and EHS business systems owners to set priorities; and

  • Understand (and/or quickly establish expertise in) the nuanced risks -- both existing and emerging -- within the healthcare compliance space.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 7 years’ experience; Master’s Degree with 6 years’ experience’ PhD with 2 years’ experience. Background in life sciences or work experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred.

  • Possess thorough theoretical and practical understanding of own discipline.

  • Proven implementation of creative technology solutions that advanced the business.

  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills.

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
