Department:EpidemiologyPre-Employment Screening:Identity Job Function:Research Position Description: This role is for a full-time Research Assistant position in Dr. Karestan Koenen’s research group in the Department of Epidemiology at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (HSPH). This position is ideal for an organized and detail-oriented team player interested in research in population mental health. This position will focus on the data and research coordination needs for the team, and report to the Assistant Director of Research Operations.

The Research Assistant will anticipate and initiate actions to ensure smooth operation of multiple programs across HSPH and the Stanley Center for Psychiatric Research of the Broad Institute, specifically projects related to different psychiatric disorders (i.e. schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and eating disorders). The Koenen lab conducts research in the US and partners with institutions across Africa and Latin America for primary data collection. This position would be tasked with working on both domestic and global projects.

This individual will contribute to various aspects of research coordination and data analysis, including running study meetings with collaborators, providing support for daily study operations, preparing ethics committee applications, creating monthly data reports, performing statistical analyses, and research dissemination.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Research Coordination - Assists the Director and Assistant Director with the planning, implementation, and closeout of multiple international studies; helps with data cleaning and organization, planning study questionnaires and helping oversee study recruitment; serves as a liaison between international study teams and Harvard Research team.

Data Processing & Analysis - Carries out the cleaning, organizing, analysis, and management of data, programs study questionnaires in REDCap (research electronic data capture) or similar software, and produces regular data reports and presentations for the research team.

Grant-Funded Research - Work in collaboration with the Sponsored Research Team to compile data and resources needed for grant applications and maintenance of pre- and post-award administration. Supports the preparation, proofreading, and submission of technical reports, manuscripts, and grant related material including progress reports.

Dissemination of Research Results - Performs literature reviews, drafts abstracts and designs posters and presentations, contributes to manuscripts and grant submissions. Presents updates to investigators and collaborators.

International Travel - Travels to sites in Africa and Latin America (one trip per year) to support implementation of the projects.
