Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Scientist I to join our Ashland LLC business at our Bridgewater, NJ location. This role is in the Hair Care and Styling applications group. This position will report to a Principal Scientist.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Make and evaluate cosmetic products. Conduct all required performance and stability tests, as described in the SOP. Report results.
Document all work in laboratory notebook. Maintain detailed records of work done for every project. Keep accurate and precise records.
Perform evaluations of competitive products, summarize results and prepare reports as appropriate.
Collaborate with multiple groups to ensure project success
Performs lab equipment maintenance and calibrations, as needed.
Upkeep of the R&D laboratory, including maintaining adequate supplies, routine disposal of samples and general cleaning. Performs daily equipment maintenance, as needed.
Comply with laboratory safety practices, policies and procedures in all activities. This includes handling of chemicals and equipment, use of protective attire and safety equipment per SDS directives, disposal of waste materials, and maintenance of clean and orderly work area.
In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
A Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Biology, Cosmetic Science or related sciences is required.
0-3 years of experience
Ability to handle multiple projects while meeting tight time constraints.
Knowledge of basic principles of cosmetic science.
Knowledge to operate lab equipment mixers, viscometers, pH meters, etc.
Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office especially excel, word and powerpoint
Authorization to work in the US
